Research Problem and Question:
To assess the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the treatment of depression among teenage women diagnosed with Anorexia, a random sample of fifteen women between the ages of 16 to 27 years old were recruited to participate in an eight-week study. Following an initial pretreatment interview each participating received CBT for one hour per week for 8 weeks. Levels of depression were assessed at baseline (during the pretreatment visit), and immediately following the therapy sessions 2, 4, 6, and 8, using the Beck Depression Inventory -II (BDI-II, 1996)). Using the attached SPSS data file, conduct a Oneway RM ANOVA and follow-up Bonferroni’s post hoc means comparison tests, to determine if depression levels changed significantly over the 8 weeks of the study.
Here’s what’s required for the SPSS application assignment.
1) Write a Null and Alternative Hypothesis.
2) Write an APA style summary of the analysis. Model your summary after my sample summary.
Be sure to include the following:
2a) Explain the purpose and goals of the analysis.
2b) Conduct Mauchly’s test for Sphericity and report the results to determine if the data met the assumption of Sphericity and summarize the results
2c) Using correct APA style, report and interpret the F-ratio, the p-value for F, and the effect size (eta-square)
2d) Using correct APA style, report the findings for Bonferroni’s mean comparison tests. Be sure to answer the question “Do depression levels change significantly over the 8-weeks of the study, and which week means differ significantly, and how large is the effect size(s).
3) Create an APA formatted ANOVA table, you must refer to the table within the summary.
4) Create a table showing the means, 95% CI for means, SDs, SEs. You must refer to the table within the 5)
Create a Profile Plot of the means. You must refer to this figure within the summary
Test to see if the data at each interval is normally distributed using Kolmogorov-Smirnovor or the Shapiro-Wilk test, and of the Z-tests for Skewness and Kurtosis
